 Our class reunion committee: Gene Tague, Kathy Larson Tague, Susie Pankratz Olson, Mary Struckness Zurcher, Nancy Saunders Hoiland, Milt Korslien, Jim Mostad, Gerry Simonson, Curt Schall, 

Meeting was held at Bootleggers in Minot at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. There is a change of the  tentative date for the 60th Reunion. New tentative date is September 5 and 6, 2026. Venues are still being checked out, meals are being discused, Lodging is being looked into. At this point we don't have many answers but do have many questions. Our next meeting is set for Wednesday, August 20th at the lower level of the VFW, 1100 31st Street SE in Minot at 4 PM. I will be transparent in the fact that my last post showed the incorrect date for our meeting, I have been duly chastised and have recieved several demerits and time out for this transgression. I am very sorry Linda B and Linda G.

The results of the pole that was taken to see how many are interested in a reunion is: 64 responded with 62 yes and 2 no.

Yes to a reunion. If we are still free to move about then, if our freedom of speech is intact, if civil servants are still paid and if ice will move their truck out of my driveway. The suffering in the world today is monumental. Say a prayer for those who now find themselves  "the least of his people". I always had religion, just never saw the need to pray this much.

In about 1990, I wrote  some lines for a military member to present to a Memorial Day gathering. There are defenders (our military), and oppressors I wrote. Oppressors challenge our freedoms continually. THINK about who would want to infringe on our rights to worship, speak freely or assemble I continued. Now, some 60 years after our graduation we realize  just how precious those rights are as we witness losing ground we earned in our Revolutionary War. Freedom is not free. Coe Ann (Clark) Lucas reminds us that Richard (Rick) Bergman died in South Virt Nam on March 3rd 1968. Rick left his wife Linda Mae (Johnson) Bergman, son Shannon and daughter Laura . Bruce Sullivan was the only dad that they knew.. Rick is interred in Rose Hill cemetery in Minot.

9 people have now been shot and killed by ICE. My skin gets somewhat dark from a summer tan. Maybe I should not risk an outing.

Americans are thankful for our military and all law enforcement that protects our nation, states, counties, cities, towns, and borders. ICE is doing a critical job across the nation to make America safe again from those who entered America illegally.  It is disappointing a member of our chat group is using this platform to besmirch a vital law enforcment group, dedicated Americans, who are working tirelessly to Make America Safe Again.

James, Unless have something positive to say on this platform or relevant to classmates, maybe you should go to a Dem Socialist platform where your messages will be appreciated. Why do your posts tend to bash America and be pro-illegals?  President Trump and his administration sees all the harm of Biden Administration opening our borders to millions of illegals and has cost Americans in loss of life, crimes, rapes of even children, fraud of our tax money, and taxpayers to support many of them. 

How many Americans have been killed by illegals?  You mention two who were killed, but why were they interfering with ICE doing their job anyway?  Besides, facts matter,  and don't recall hearing ICE was found guilty in those deaths.

Where I live in NV, can't even get into an emergency room because filled with illegals, no apartment for our kids to rent because of government subsized housing for illegals, and public schools full of kids that can't speak English, and classes are dumbed down to accommodate them, while American kids suffer in loss of learning. No wonder NV ranks close to the bottom in reading nationwide. Crime is up, and non-citizens allowed to vote, as proof of citizenship not required when DMV registers them when they get ID or drivers license. Reported by DHS today that NV is one of four states with huge issue with voter rolls. #BordersMatter  #CitizenshipMatter #ComeToAmericaLegally  #SupportICE

I don't think anyone is going to convince anyone else so we should all focus on what we have in common. All you are going to do is discourage people from attending our class reunion if this is what it is going to be like. It is obvious that no one cares what we think anyway except at the ballot box so what is the point to fighting among ourselves. Thank you for being kind to each other.

Seriously, Jim, you do not understand how to identify illegals? Glad you are looking for answers which is important when our nation is being divided on this subject. First and foremost, for most Americans, America First for American Citzens by birth and legal naturaliztion.  May God bless us one and all, and Make America Great Again. 

First of all, not our job to "identify" illegals, right?  That is why we have law enforecement like local police, sheriff, border agents and ICE. Your remaks gave me a good laugh to start my day-Thanks! And seriourly, you were "up all night trying to figure how to identify illegals"?  Maybe when have next sleepless night read a good book on the subject.  Several are on the market.  Will pray for you as you seek answers on how identify an illegal.  Be thankful in Minot, probably because of the Air Force base, you don't have as many as some towns and states.

You said "filled with illegals" and "housing for illegals". How do you know that the folks you saw in emergency rooms are illegal? Such a simple question. You listed the rules for the forum talk. My guess is when we share our "positive" experiences it draws attention to the reunion and will increase attendance at the reunion. Bueno please.

"salud por el reencuentro". In an earlier comment i mentioned threats to our right to free speech and assembly. In the book you entered in the discussion he warns of many things of which i agree, including threats to free speech. Our free speech is currently threatened beyond anything before. Endless lawsuits heve been filed against those who speak truth to power.  My opinion has always been that as long as we are a nation of laws, we have nothing to fear. As a civil servant we were told we could not accept a gratuity greater than $15; and only for special occasions like a birthday. Some on our current Supreme Court are accepting in kind payments  in the hundreds of thousands from people who benefit from their decisions. They are also civil servants but reflect no ethics with receiving gratuties. The current administration has shown a hate for civil servants and zero respect for the law. 11 now killed by ice. 50 have died in their custody. Live tv on the shootings reveals many killed for just practicing their right to assemble. I look forward to the reunion and to share matters in my life today. Again, how do you identify illegals? Bueno.

It is not especially helpful to argue about how to recognize "illegals."  Illegal is not the point; if it were, the actual statistics about crime, voting, jobs and social services would matter.  The media and popular figures lie, distort and exaggerate.

What I remember from my earliest education in Minot is that the hungry need food, the unclothed need clothes and the homeless need shelter.  We can help  i was not taught that brown and Black people need papers.  Our grandparents were economic refugees in the late 19th century.  I understand an old view of "Land of opportunity."  Many now want to shut the door. Many now worry that their grandchildren will have to fight for jobs  Many are willing to accept the racist lies about immigrants.  Lots of lies.

Many classmates may disagree with Rod, and based on facts, know that illegals are the point. Why? The door was opened under Biden to have them flood our county.  No other country in the world allows unlimited immigrates to flood a nation, because it ultimately destroys a nation.

The actual statistics about crime, voting, housing, burden to health care system, jobs, cost to taxpayers, education system, and social services, do matter.

I remember from my education in Minot that the emphasis was on academics; not feeding, clothing, and providing shelters for the homeless. In what classes at MHS was that taught?  We didn't have the pro-liberal education agenda where that is taught now in public schools, as I recall.

You wrote, "Many now want to shut the door."  Yes, because as other times in American history, the door to immigration has been closed so the immigrants could assimilate, get jobs, learn English, the Constitution and American history. That is just Common Sense to maintain an orderly county and communities.

You also wrote, "Many are willing to accept the racist lies about immigrants.  Lots of lies." Who are you talking about? What racist lies about immigrants? Classmates on the other side of the aisle from this Democrat Socialist position, could be see these statements as lies and propaganda. We are tired of being accused of false allegations, attacks on America, and know we have to Speak Up to Save America. Americans who love America and our Constituton know we have been quiet way too long.

Sprecken. Silence is only golden in the song. Sat behind Milt Korslien in the home room. Often shared my weekend rabble rousing with him on Monday mornings. Wrote a page once on my lifetime of outdoor experiences. One line: i once watched the frost melt off the backs of thousands of dragonfles as they thawed out, flexed their wings and flew away. In support of my hunting and to my vegitarian friends i wrote: carrots cry and wilt and die when they are picked. One day an announcement on the p.a. told us John Kennedy had been shot. Lunch at Alm's some days. Hooskerdoo?

The chokecherry syrup/jelly is done. The syrup on vanilla ice cream is knockout.   i started in o/a 1960 helping my mother with the wood dowel in the metal colander. Have done it every year. Now we put a hand mixer in the boiled berries to minimize the squeezing juice through the colander. Low suger/quick set sure gel reduces final boiling to 1 minute and maximizes flavor. NW cherries were $2.00 lb, so we did our first cherry canning. The juicer/steamers are not pricey and work well with plumbs- Have wild plumbs in the yard. Have a 40 ft wild grape that produces 15 gal of grapes. Grapes boil down fast, can be crushed with a potato masher then drained in a colander. Ultra easy. Watermelon pickles (sweet, German style) are next to do. Buffalo (bullberries) must freeze to get sweet. We make syrup/jelly from those o/a mid Dec. August and Sep are busy canning monthe for us. Hope this brought back memories from home for those returning for the reunion.

Jim, I enjoyed reading your post about all the canning you do this time of year.  I remember helping make chokecherry syrup.  My favorite way to eat it was on pancakes.  However, I think I would have to say my favorite berry was the June berry.  We seldom had enough to can because we ate the berries as fast as we picked them.  There were a few years when my mom would make June berry sauce.  I have fond memories of eating the sause over ice cream.  I just finished canning a batch of tart cherries into jam.  Later this Fall I will have a lot of apples to process.  Most of the time I make apple pie filling and freeze it.  Looking forward to the reunion.
