David John Boen, 62, died on January 16, 2011 at his home after a yearlong battle with cancer. Dave was born August 11, 1948 in Rugby, ND and was raised in Willow City, ND untill the family moved to Minot in 1955. The then moved to Sidney, Neb., Tooele, Utah and returned to Minot in 1963 where Dave graduated from Minot High School in 1966. Dave attended Minot State University and Dickinson State University before entering the US Navy in 1968. He married Susan Hyland at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot on March 8, 1969 while on leave from the Navy. Dave was honorable discharged from the navy in 1972 and began employment with the Burlington Northern Railway and he retired in 2003. Dave and Sue returned to Minot in 2004 and they divided their time between Minot and Arizona for several years. Dave and Sue had a son, Brad and a daughter, Heidy.
