Eugene "Geno" Howard Summers, 63, rural Minot, died November 25, 2009 in a Minot hospital. Eugene was born November 8, 1946 in Devils Lake, ND and his family moved to Minot in 1954 where he was educated untill they moved to Williston, ND where he graduated in 1966. Gene enlisted in the US Army in 1966, served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968. Gene married Dolores "Nel" Nelson on August 28, 1971 and they made their home in Minot where Gene graduated from Minot State University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 1984. He then recieved a masters degree from the University of Denver in 1986. Gene worked for the Vet Centers in Minot, Bismarck, Rapid City, SD and Sioux City, IA. He retired in 1996 due to ill health but continued to build computers untill 2007. He was proud to be president and co-founder of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 81 as well as a member of the Minot American Legion Post #26. Gene and Nel had a son, Marc and a daughter, Renae.
